repositioning flight and point.me
Thanks to points and miles, we have several international trips this summer. At first, we thought we might drive to Atlanta. However, realizing how tired we would be we decided to fly early to Atlanta and then take our International flights.
I decided to check point.me (I get it free with my American Express Platinum card). When I saw we could get to Atlanta and back for 10,000 points each this was a no-brainer.
Here is how Point.me works:
I went to point.me and put in where I was flying from and to. I then selected my dates (random date shown)
It pulls up the flights on points. You can sort however you want.
It then gives you instructions on how to book your reward ticket.
At this point, I manually check Air France for the tickets I selected on Point.me to make sure they exist. Once I add the flights to my cart. I transferred the points needed to my Air France account.
We ended up booking 12 one-way tickets tonight. 6 to Atlanta and 6 home for various trips. For 4 of these tickets, I transferred Capital One points, and for 8 I used American Express Membership Rewards. I also had Ultimate Rewards that could have been used but I want those for other purposes.
If we paid for these flights, it would have been $260+ each. Instead, we used 10,000 points and just paid the taxes. When I looked at Delta for our flights in September it would have been 21,000 points each instead of the 10,000 we used going through Air France for the exact same price.
Thanks to a quick search on point.me. We saved lots of money and points.
