Why We Chose Native Choice
On my 3rd trip to Costa Maya in a year, I was excited to return. I knew I wanted to go back to the Bacalar Lagoon, but my son wanted to see Mayan Ruins. Luckily, Native Choice has a shore excursion that does both. I had booked through them the first time I was in Costa Maya. I was impressed on how organized they were, and it saved me quite a bit of money to book directly through their website. The meeting place is a quick walk outside the port gates. I have done it twice now and both times I felt completely safe.
What’s Included:
Round-trip transport
Guided tour of ruins
Lunch and unlimited drinks
Kayaks and swimming access
Exploring Chacchoben Mayan Ruins
Our first stop for the day was after an hour's drive to the Chacchoben ruins. The site was amazing. It made my son very happy. They had two guides on the excursion. The first one took us around the ruins and explained everything. Our 2nd guide took care of us at the lagoon. We were also excited to see monkeys playing in the trees at the site.
Relaxing at Bacalar Lagoon
After the ruins, we take a bumpy but short ride to the Bacalar Lagoon. The rest of the afternoon is spent here. They provide tacos (chicken and pork) with several sauces. They also have free drinks, including pina coladas, margaritas, and Coke products. Unlimited drinks during your stay (I don’t think they advertise this aspect enough). They have kayaks you can take out or hop in the water. I enjoyed a little swimming, then had a margarita or two as I enjoyed how lucky I was to be there. We returned to the port happy with some time to explore the port or head back to the ship.
Final Thoughts
I like using Native Choice so much I have already booked with them again for my next cruise with my husband.
