What’s in my wallet?
I've carried an American Express Aspire card for many years. My husband occasionally travels for work and prefers Hilton hotels. I seriously debated getting rid of the American Express Aspire this year. The fee went up to $550 annually and I wanted to be sure I was using it enough for that investment. After reviewing our travel plans and the benefits we receive I decided to give it another year.
Benefits we use:
Free annual free night certificate can be used at any Hilton (standard room rate).
Diamond Status with Hilton
$400 Hilton resort credit (certain resorts and $200 for each 1/2 of the year)
$50 flight credit every quarter
I’ve debated adding more American Express cards to my wallets to try their point system Membership Rewards. At first, I was hesitant the fee on the American Express card is jaw-dropping to say the least. However, I decided to take the plunge with a huge sign up bonus. I figure what negate the cost if I hated it. I like the American Express Platinum way more than I imagined.
Breakdown the Annual Fee for this card is $695 but here are the benefits that I personally use are listed below:
$20 a month digital entertainment credit
$200 Hotel Credit when booking through Amex Travel
$200 annual airline fee
$189 ClearAmex Global Lounge Collection + Priority pass
Monthy Walmart + credit (also give me paramount + free)
Fee Credit for Global Entry ot TSA Precheck (every 4 years)
$15 a month in uber credits (can be used for uber eats)
Last but not least, American Express Gold. The fee is $250 a year but it will earn a place in my wallet next year because of the 4 points per dollar earned on groceries and restaurants. With two teenage boys we spend a lot of money on food. We also get back $10 a month in uber credit (can be used for uber eats).
