oops I almost missed a bonus
I love traveling on points and miles. It has provided my family with many adventures we could not have afforded without this hobby.
In November I added my son Tanner to my American Express Platinum card. He is traveling a lot with me this year and I knew we would be hitting lounges as we traveled. He is heading with me to Prague, Norway, and Alaska. I had to pay a $200 fee to add him which I was debating when I saw that I could add him and get 20,000 Membership rewards if he spent $2000 in 6 months. I knew 20,000 Membership rewards were worth way more than $200. Not only would I get 20,000 points, but I would also get him into the lounges with me free with his card. It’s a win/win!
Here is the offer that showed up on my American Express Platinum card
Here are the terms of the offer:
I set up his Amex Platinum to pay our auto insurance for the next 6 months and I thought I was done. Except, it wasn’t! Thank goodness I went through to see if we had hit our minimum yet and noticed they had skipped his card even though it was the preferred card it skipped his card and they were billing my Amex card. I changed it back to his card the night before our next billing and now I am using it to be sure we hit the $2,000 spend before May. We should have no trouble hitting the remainder thanks to all the excursions I am planning for our trip to Prague. I will change our credit card on Viator bookings to make sure we hit that bonus.
I thought I was smart to set it up without thinking about it again. However, we almost missed out. I now have a running total on a piece of paper I am keeping up with his spending so we can make sure we get this bonus.
