Wyndham Business Earner

I feel like this is the most obscure card in my wallet. I rarely use it but I have gotten so much use out of it. I will keep it for another year. The Wyndham Business Earner has provided me with several free cruises via the Casino Merry-Go-Round (currently working on a full explanation that will be up soon). I was so focused on the cruise aspect of the card that I almost forgot to hit my minimum spend to get the bonus Wyndham rewards. Luckily, I remembered and it has come in handy. I have had the 50,000 points sitting there and no idea what to do with them. I haven’t been excited about using them for Wyndham properties since I can find better deals with points at Hyatts.

I am planning a trip to Las Vegas for our family later this year. I booked our flights on Southwest with points. We paid for 2 tickets with points and then were able to fly our boys with us for free using our companion passes. I have been trying to figure out the lodging without spending any money. We need two rooms because our boys are men now and we seem to like each other better on trips if we are not all packed in one room. They have some Hyatt’s there but it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for this trip. With my WBE card, I status matched to Caesar’s Diamond which waives the resort fees at Caesars hotels. This is a significant saving in Vegas. However, my status only covers one room and we need two. The rooms went on sale and I got 2 rooms for 5 nights at $1100 and I thought that might just be it. Then I thought about the points I got from my sign-up bonus a year ago about 52,000. I realized I could transfer those to Caesars and use them toward hotel nights. I did this not knowing exactly how this was going to pan out but I figured any additional money off the trip was better than nothing. It took about a week for the points to transfer. A few of our dates for our trip had drastically dropped in price and I booked 2 rooms in Vegas for 3 nights of our journey for 42,000 Caesars points total. This included the resort fees for the 2nd room. I then booked the Hyatt Place near the airport for the first 2 nights on points since the first two nights on the strip were more points than I had. We still have over 10,000 Ceasears points left over we can use for another trip or expenses in Vegas. My status should also give us a $100 Celebration dinner at one of their restaurants.
