I love sharing my strategies for points and miles. I thought this was a fun one.
We recently took our family skiing for a few days in Colorado. You can see how I used points and miles to save money on that trip here.
On this trip, we paid for our hotel room. I rarely pay for hotel rooms thanks to this hobby. I knew if I was paying for a room I wanted to maximize the points earned so I could get something back for spending all that money.
Here are the points earned for our 4 nights at Keystone. Luckily Hyatt had a 3x points offer for our dates. I just had to sign up for this on the website before our trip. This earned us an extra 10,000 points on our trip! 18,000 points doesn’t sound like a lot unless they are with Hyatt. This is a lot of points for Hyatt. That’s why I love their reward program so much.
Point Summary
When these points hit this week, I already had 2000 Hyatt points in my account. We are heading out on a Virgin Voyage in November, and I need a hotel before the cruise. I love staying in South Beach, Miami, before I cruise. I love the vibe down there. I took my 20,000 Hyatt points and got us a fabulous room in South Beach at the Hyatt Centric. My husband and I stayed there in February and loved the hotel and the location. You can read more about our free stay here.
Although I hate I had to pay for a hotel room this month, I am very thankful that I was able to get another room free in return. I will get more Hyatt points from this stay in Denver. I used my Hyatt Chase Card to pay for the hotel and will get additional points when my credit card bill closes later this month.
This is why our family motto it to Leave No Point Behind. I try to maximize our points and miles and leave no benefit behind.
