I took my 2nd Holland America cruise first of November. You can see the deal I got on this cruise here.
This was a 4-day cruise that was supposed to visit Half Moon Cay and Bimini. I love both of these ports. However, the Bimini port was changed a few months later to Nassau. When we boarded the ship, the itinerary was changed again due to the weather. We would not be able to tender to Half Moon Cay. We ended up staying in Nassau the entire cruise with an overnight stay. I don’t love the Nassau port but since I was on a ship I love so much I didn’t care one bit. In fact, we stayed on the ship until we got back to Fort Lauderdale.
To save money, we opted to book an unobstructed ocean view. I stayed with my friend and cruise agent Mary, aka Sunny Breezes Mary. After we booked this cruise, my parents decided to join us. They had been sailing a lot of Carnival Ships lately and wanted to branch out to different cruise lines. We were offered the chance to bid on an upgrade but we decided to use that money and book thermal spa passes instead. We have no regrets whatsoever about our decision
Some of the things I love about Holland America Cruises:
Breakfast Buffet I am not a big breakfast eater, and I don’t care for eggs, so breakfast is very limiting. However, the buffet has freshly made crepes. Each morning, I had a fresh strawberry crepe. My parents enjoyed fresh omelets each morning. They said they were amazing. We enjoyed meeting up each morning and having breakfast together. It was a great way to start the day.
Dueling Piano Bar We stumbled upon this on our first Holland America Cruise. We loved it so much that we knew it was a must-do on this cruise. I think someone from our group ended up there each night they performed. They play songs from an eclectic mix of genres and signing along is encouraged. Seats go fast so get there early.
Thermal Spa - we love getting the thermal spa packages on our cruises. We booked ours before we boarded and it was $118 for the 4-day cruise. My mom forgot to do this and was charged $188 for the same package. We all agree it was worth the money. In fact, my dad was sad he didn’t bring a bathing suit because he would have joined us. I assume it was because of all the itinerary changes but the spa was pretty full this trip. This made some people grumpy. However, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I don’t let negative energy affect me.
