two days in boston on points

Even though this isn’t technically a point trip, I like showing you how to maximize your travel with credit card points and benefits. This is a benefit post.

My husband has an upcoming work trip to Boston. It happens to fall around our anniversary. Even though we are celebrating earlier this month, I thought why not join him? I love Boston and would love to have a day or two to myself to do what I want.

My husband is flying Southwest for this trip. He achieved the companion pass last year for this year. You can learn more about that here. His company is paying for his flight and I get to tag along for $11.20 the taxes and fees for a roundtrip companion pass ticket.

His company is providing his hotel room. At first, we thought, "Let’s stay at Hyatt. We love Hyatt points." However, I remember we have Hilton Diamond Status through our Hilton Aspire card. If we stay at a Hilton, I will get a $30 food and beverage credit a day. He will be out doing business stuff, so I can use that for just me!!! The hotel I am staying at also has free breakfast, so I will only need to pay for my lunch both days in Boston.

Thanks to this fun hobby, I am going to spend two days in Boston for $11.20. I will probably book a tour, and I am thinking of exploring the Freedom Trail if it isn’t too cold.

We are flying home on our actual anniversary so I am already checking airport lounges we can get in free with our credit cards. I feel like free wine and food at an airport lounge is the perfect way for us to spend our special day.
