Companion Pass - Success

Earlier this month, we added the Southwest Chase Card to our wallet. On a flight home, I saw they offered 65,000 points for $1,000 spent in 3 months. I knew my husband needed 64,000 points to get the companion pass for 2025. I wasn’t sure this late in the game if we could get the card, meet the minimum spend, and get the points before the end of the year. However, I thought let’s go for it. We definitely could use the 65,000 points if my mission failed.

We did not instantly get approved for the card, making my timeline a little more stressful. I applied on the plane to take advantage of this deal and it said it did not go through. I was bummed until I got an email saying they were reviewing it. We had just canceled his Southwest card in September. We received the Chase Hyatt card for the 5 free nights in early October. I try not to work on two sign-up bonuses at the same time. However, I knew we could do both thanks to tuition payments coming up in December.

With Chase, you need to wait 30 days between Credit Card applications, and we got the Hyatt card in early October. I went back and checked my dates before I applied and saw it had been over 30 days.

We spent the minimum spend earlier this week and I was so excited to see these points pending in my account here:

If you want to check your progress of your Southwest account to see how many points you have you can see that here are on your Southwest account:

I am happy this all worked out. I knew I was taking a chance this close to January. I need those points to hit my account before December 31st. As of now, they are scheduled to be added on December 18th. We are already planning on taking advantage of the companion pass with a trip for our 21st anniversary. I am thinking somewhere warm.
