Chase Hyatt card
I had a friend text me this week asking about hotel cards. I thought I would write up what I think of them, which ones I have, and why. I’ll start with my Chase Hyatt card because I love Hyatt points and we use them all the time.
I will mention I get most of the points I use for Hyatts from my Chase Sapphire card. They are a transfer partner. You do not have to have a Chase Hyatt Card to transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt. You need to have a Hyatt Membership account. You can set this up on their website. All you have to do is select Join World of Hyatt.

I love Hyatt and Hyatt's points when it comes to traveling. Their points system is the best. We booked our upcoming trip to Prague on Hyatt Points. You can read more about that here. We stay at a lot of Hyatts. I am currently writing this from a Hyatt in Colorado. By using my Hyatt card, I get points for staying at Hyatt through their reward program. I then get 5 more points per dollar when I put it on my credit card. As someone who loves Hyatt Points this makes me happy!
I also love that having the Chase Hyatt Card automatically makes me a Discoverist. That is the lowest tier of their generous reward program. This benefitted me last month and on the trip, I am currently on. Since I am a discoverist I can request a late check out of 2 pm. Last month we had a later in the day flight out of Miami. We were able to spend the morning exploring Miami, head back to the hotel grab our belongings, and then head to the airport. We saw lots of people walking around with luggage we didn’t have to do that. On this trip, we are skiing in Colorado. We have an early flight back out of Denver so after skiing our last day we will need to head back to Denver and stay the night. Check out is 11 and we won’t be done skiing yet. We were already approved for our late check-out so we can ski until 1. Come back gather our belongings, change, and head back to Denver. It will make for a way less stressful day.
Saying all this the sign-up bonus for the Chase Hyatt card currently is not their best promotion. We were able to get it for my husband recently where he got 5 free cat 1-4 certificates. You can read about that here. We are going to use his free night certificates for our trip to Toronto this summer, a room in Athens Greece, and a room in Paris.
The Chase Hyatt card has a $95 annual fee. With the $95 you will get an annual free night certificate Category 1 -4 hotels. We have stayed at some amazing cat 1-4 hotels over the years. I highly recommend adding this card to your wallet when the time is right.
