Prague on points
My youngest is graduating from high school this May. To celebrate his accomplishment, we are heading to Prague. I let my kids choose where to go based on where I can find free flights using points.
Here is how I planned this trip:
First, I started researching where we could go in Europe with our American Express Membership rewards. I knew we wanted to go in early to mid-May. When we were about a year out, I started searching. I used Point.me to help me with searches done one way at a time. Prague had been on my mind as somewhere my boys would like to go. We did Germany back in 2019, and they loved it.
I quickly found flights to Prague on points from Atlanta. We are flying Air France from Atlanta to Prague. I used 168,000 American Express member points for the four of us to fly roundtrip to Prague. We had to pay about $1200 for taxes and fees. I also upgraded all our seats on the flight to include more legroom. That is included in that total.
After I booked our flights, I started looking at hotels. As always, my first place to look is Hyatt. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Linder Hotel Prague Castle was available starting at 3500 points. I was able to book two rooms for our family. A room for the boys for 6 nights at 24,000 points. I then booked a suite for me and my husband for 42,000 points. Our out-of-pocket for the hotel is 0.
Our 6-day trip to Prague with the hotel is $1200. If I had booked this paying cash it would have been over $11,0000.
