Points update

I have gone through quite a few points lately as I am booking our 2025 travel. As of today, I have booked 9 domestic flights and 8 international flights all on points. This weekend, I sat down and did a complete point inventory. I made a list of all the points we have in all our random accounts.

I try to do this at least every 6 months so I don’t miss any of my benefits. When doing my point inventory, I found two free night certificates for Marriotts that I didn’t even realize I had. Both my husband and I had one in our accounts. This worked out perfectly for our upcoming ski trip. We need a hotel in Denver the night we arrive and the night before we fly home. I booked both of those for free thanks to this inventory. While doing this, I re-checked the price of my hotel in Keystone. Thank goodness I did, I saved $500 on our room. I also added our rental car via Costco Travel. The price is higher than I would like to pay but I went ahead and booked it and plan to keep checking it until it drops. There is no penalty for doing this with Costco.

We are currently working on our sign-up bonus for Hyatt. We will get 5 free nights (cat 1-4) once we spend 4000 in 3 months. We have tuition, books, etc due for the upcoming semester so we will hit that easily in the first few days of January. On our most recent cruise, I saw we’re close to my husband getting the companion pass for Southwest. We had an inflight offer on our last Southwest flight. The offer was 65,000 points when spending 1000 dollars in 3 months. I might have waited too late to get that this year. However, we will try to get it and if we don’t get the points in time for the Companion pass we will at least get some free flights with 65,000. Those will not go to waste.
