Prague - our plan

Last year, I booked flights and a hotel for my son’s graduation trip to Prague. You can see how I got our airfare for taxes and our hotel rooms free here.

Now that our trip is approaching, I am working on the logistics. Here is what I have planned so far. I thought I would show you my process for trip planning.

I usually start with a rough draft in a notebook that looks something like this:

If I am familiar with the location, I might fill it in with stuff I know that is good. However, for my upcoming trip to Prague, I know nothing. I looked at TripAdvisor and this book:

We have been traveling to Europe for over 12 years now and I always buy the Rick Steeves book for wherever we are going. It is a wealth of information, and easy to understand.

After reading the Prague book, I plan my trip based on my family’s likes and dislikes. My family loves history. This is my son’s graduation present so I am trying to tailor the trip to him specifically.

I went to Viator to start booking some of our activities. I like Viator because I don’t know the area and they work with so many local companies that I would never know about without them. I can read reviews and best of all. I can book now and pay later. I love this. We travel a lot so having money tied up in trips that aren’t happening for 6 months to a year isn’t ideal for us.

Here is what I have selected so far:

Prague Walking Tour With Vltava River Cruise and Czech Lunch 2025 I think this walking tour will help us see the whole area and help us as we spend the rest of the week in Prague.

I then booked Small-Group Karlštejn Castle and Caves - All inclusive day trip 2025 - Prague My family loves Castles and based on Rick Steves book I think this will be a day everyone will enjoy.

The last thing I have planned with Viator is Prague Communism Nuclear Bunker and Cold War Museum Guided Tour 2025. My family loves history and they all seemed excited that I booked this for our trip. They enjoyed Churchill War Rooms in London.

Cold War Bunker

I like having a good layout for the trip. I have a couple of free days left that I will still need to plan. I need to go back through the Rick Steves book now that our trip is getting closer.
